How a Lotus umbrella is made
From the first drawing to the export carton, every umbrella goes through the same seven stages in our three factories in Shaoxing.

Design and sampling
Your brief becomes a technical drawing: canopy size, number of ribs, frame and handle. Samples are made and approved before production starts.
- 02 / 07
Frame
Shafts, runners, ribs and stretchers are cut and assembled. Fibreglass ribs bend in strong wind instead of snapping.
- 03 / 07
Canopy
Fabric is cut into panels and sewn to the frame, one panel between each pair of ribs.
- 04 / 07
Printing
Your logo or artwork is printed on the panels, from a single logo to designs that cover the whole canopy.
- 05 / 07
Assembly
Tips, the top cap and the handle are fitted, then the opening mechanism is tested.
- 06 / 07
Inspection
Three inspection stages end with a final AQL 2.5 check on every order. Independent laboratories test wind resistance to level 8.
